Jatin Patel
Jatin completed his PhD in 2011 at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, studying the maternal-fetal transport of thyroid hormone across the placenta. Jatin then shifted to The University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research (UQCCR) in 2012 to take up a postdoctoral position with A/Professor Kiarash Khosrotehrani and Professor Nicholas Fisk, continuing his interests in the placenta, however now focussing on various stem cell populations that exist in abundance within this organ. His current research focusses on developing new strategies to obtain pure fetal stem cell populations, in particular endothelial progenitor cells and mesenchymal stem cells, and using them as a tool for cellular therapies in skin wound healing or ameliorating ischemic injury.
